What began as a summer home for an early American ironmaster family in 1779, thrives today as Mount Hope Estate & Winery. This local winery opened in 1980 and with its series of weekend events, including a modern-day jousting tournament, it eventually birthed the popular Pennsylvania Rennaisance Faire.
In 2015, Mount Hope Estate & Winery's wine production returned to Lancaster County for the first time since the 1980s. They repurposed an existing barn into over 9,250 square feet of working space. Today, it's where they produce their proprietary wines, ciders, and more!
Mount Hope Estate & Winery is famous for its white sangria and ciders, including seasonal ones like peach vanilla which is available in the summer, and frosted cranberry which is available during the late fall and early winter. They also produce select fruit wines based on availability, that they release once a year.
If you prefer the classics, you can find flavorful options like chardonnay, pinot grigio, riesling, and merlot. They also specialize in PA native wines including concord, niagara, pink catawba, and cayuga.
