Nestled between Mom's Country Grill and Old Europe Stoneware is a little shop called Wicker Works that features chair caning and wicker repair services. Proprietor Kathy Penney has been restoring serviceable furniture and family heirlooms for over 40 years.
Kathy is honored to have the Washington National Cathedral as one of her clients, but also puts the same level of craftsmanship and pride in all of her work. Dedicated to keeping this traditional craft from becoming a lost art, she does hands-on demonstrations and teaches chair caning classes on-site.
Kathy is joined in the shop space by local crafters offering homemade gifts and goods such as soaps, repurposed items, and folk art. Come and watch the artist at work while you enjoy a delicious meal at The Markets.
